Elgato Studio 2.0 Gives You One Place to Run Your Entire Video Setup

Elgato Studio 2.0 Gives You One Place to Run Your Entire Video Setup: studio-hero-shot

The Prompter experience from Camera Hub is rebuilt and expanded in Studio, now free for everyone.

MUNICH, Germany, November 3, 2026 – Elgato, a CORSAIR® brand, today released Studio 2.0, the next evolution of its video software for PC and Mac. At its center is a redesigned Prompter experience, including a new script editor, enhanced voice tracking, and multi-platform chat. For the first time, that experience is open to everyone: a built-in Virtual Prompter turns any laptop or monitor into a teleprompter, no hardware required. Studio also expands to include camera settings, fully replacing Camera Hub and bringing creators’ video workflows under one roof.

“As video gear gets more capable, the software needed to run it keeps getting more fragmented,” said Julian Fest, General Manager at Elgato. “More capability shouldn’t mean more complexity. With Studio 2.0, creators can write a script, frame their shot, and hit record, all in one place that grows with their setup. That’s where Elgato is headed: hardware and software designed together around how people actually work, rather than one product at a time.”

What creators asked for

Every part of the Prompter experience has been reworked based on community feedback, starting with the foundation. Studio brings a faster, smoother feel on both PC and Mac, along with a fresh interface designed around how creators actually work.

The script editor has been completely rethought, with full markdown support, so formatting like headings and lists carries over from other apps. Scripts now have a dedicated library that's far easier to manage, with search, favorites, and tabs for working on several at once. And since a Prompter no longer needs to be plugged in, creators can step away from their desk and write whenever inspiration strikes.

Voice Sync, which uses speech recognition to scroll in step with the speaker's voice, has been rebuilt for more reliable tracking. It no longer requires high-end hardware either, and now runs on virtually any system, including Intel and AMD PCs. New on-screen widgets, like a timer and progress meter, keep creators informed as they go. And for productions with a second set of hands, an operator can now see exactly what the speaker sees and guide the script in real time.

Live chat goes beyond Twitch too, with YouTube and Kick joining the mix, so creators can follow the conversation without looking away from the camera. Those streaming on multiple platforms can see every message in a single feed, so no one gets left out.

A Prompter on any screen

Thanks to a new built-in Virtual Prompter, all of those features are now available to anyone who downloads Studio, no Elgato hardware required. It turns an existing laptop or monitor into a teleprompter, with two placements to choose from: Docked and Floating.

Docked puts the script in a slim strip just below the camera, keeping the speaker’s eyes close to the lens. It works with any camera along the top of the screen, from a laptop’s built-in webcam to a DSLR mounted over a monitor. Because it’s free with no time limits, creators can try a teleprompter before investing in new gear.

For setups that need more flexibility, Floating moves the script into a window that can be placed anywhere on screen, such as beside a video call or slide deck. It can even go fullscreen on a third-party teleprompter that works as an extra display, giving existing hardware a software upgrade. Creators can unlock Floating by purchasing Virtual Prompter Pro on Elgato Marketplace or connecting a physical Prompter.

"We've seen how much a teleprompter changes the way creators show up on camera, and that shouldn't depend on owning one," said Riccardo Iavarone, Associate Vice President of Marketing at Elgato. "With Virtual Prompter, every creator can experience the difference for themselves and decide where to take it from there."

A new home for cameras

Creators with an Elgato Facecam or Cam Link can now record directly in Studio, right alongside their script, for high-quality video with almost no setup. Settings like resolution, frame rate, and codec are built in, and audio can come from any microphone or even a Wave Link mix.

A live preview, now available on both PC and Mac, makes it easy to confirm everything is in frame and in focus. The all-new HUD adds a live readout of camera settings, alongside a composition grid for lining up the perfect shot. While presenting, creators can even layer the preview behind their script, for peace of mind as they read.

Facecam owners will find their essential controls here too, from zoom to exposure and white balance. Their existing settings carry over automatically from Camera Hub, so there’s nothing to set up again.

Built to grow

Until now, each new device in a video setup usually meant another program to learn and another window to manage. Studio brings it all together and joins Wave Link as the next Elgato software available to everyone. Elgato hardware takes the experience even further, from built-in recording to perfect eye contact with a physical Prompter.

Everything in Studio is just a touch away on Stream Deck, too. An overhauled plugin lets creators navigate their script, adjust framing, or start recording, even while working in other apps. And as their setup expands, the rest of the Elgato ecosystem is ready to grow with it.

Availability

Studio 2.0 is available today as a free download for PC and Mac at elgato.com. It requires Windows 11 (64-bit or ARM64) or macOS 26 Tahoe or later.

Virtual Prompter Pro, which unlocks Floating placement, is available on Marketplace for $2.99 USD per month, $29.90 USD per year, or $49.99 USD for lifetime access.

The updated Studio plugin for Stream Deck is also available today as a free download on Elgato Marketplace.
